I really do not remember the amount, but I bought a black velvet vest (yes, they were the rage at the school I went to).

It was $94.37 and I used it to buy clothes to keep the job and put gas in my car to get to my job and saved $10.00. ( I beleive in savings accounts.)

I was a sophomore in high school, it was a couple hundred bucks, and it seemed like a fortune to me! I most likely spent it on clothes.

I've been working since I was 9 years old. I don't remember what I spent it on but I'm sure some of it was for candy.

- I started delivering papers (The San Francisco Call Bulletin) in downtown SF when I was 9. I then delivered the Oakland Tribune until I was 15. I took a small route and built it up to the largest route any kid ever had and they made a rule that no kid could ever have a route that big again.
  When I was 15 I started caddying and setting pins in bowling alleys and did that until I got out of high school.

- Pretty much. Although, I worked construction in California for several years and would work in the summer and draw unemployment in the winter. Used to get 4 and 5 month vacations. That was fun. I did that for a couple of years when I was a single hippie with no cares.

My first month's paycheck after I got out of College was about $290.00 net after taxes. I used part of it to buy a transistor radio. That was in 1961 and I still have it.
