Help answer this question below.
I live on my own, but growing up my family always ate dinner together. I think it is a good practice and one that will be important to me if I have a family of my own. I think it is a good opportunity for families to connect during the day.
We did. But, it was hateful.. It wasn't a time of comunication and relaxation, but time to be proper and perfect. My family wasn't very good in the communication area... except for my father.
Rarely!
My dad works shifts, as does my sister. Its not the not sitting down that affects the communiation, its the fact that beyond that, we rarely get the chance to all be at home together at the same time.
There are a lot of notes left around the house, text messages, and conversations that have to take place 3 or 4 times so that everyone gets to hear the story.
No we don't...and it's something I have thought about a lot...everyone plonks themselves either in front of a TV or computer...it's aweful...but on special occasions and when friends are over we sit together...and have conversation! But as a child...we sat around the table as a family...but we werent allowed to talk anyway...while were eating...it was an uncomfortable situation...
I always sit round the table with my boyfriend for tea, i think it is nice to just sit and enjoy tea, talk about our days and enjoy each others company. I always sat round the table as a family with my parents and i must say i did enjoy it, it was nice and it also teaches you table manors, which a lot of people dont have! When i have a family i will do the same, show them that its nice to do things as a family.
