I would still be on and much happier. Competitiveness and personal recognition go against my grain anyway. +5 Doc
I'd imagine that a great number of people would leave AB. Despite protests to the contrary, points add a certain something to the site that many wouldn't want to do without.
I'd still be on AB as much as I am on now.
I expect most of them to leave. I get tickled when I hear people say points don't matter to me and then that same person will ask a question about why aren't getting any points or got DRd. They may not admit it but most of the people here want points. It's like a contest to see how fast they can gain them. I think the true ABers who are here to care about their friends and who are here to be an encouragement or just have fun would stay around but most would be gone.
I'd stay. The only difference is that AB would then cease to be like one of those overdone reputation system online forums about Pokemon and Obama.
You could break the point records here last week! Why you didn't do it?

Why don't some AB users care how many points they have or how high up the leaderboard they are?

Why are some people all hyped up over the 'points' on here? Am I missing out? Is there cash money for higher levels?

Do you ever pay attention to what others "like" on here? If so, do you assume everyone actually likes everything he or she "likes"?

You're reading If AB took away the points system what percentage of AB members would be left (how many would leave AB)?

thank you and I am sorry you don't want to be recognized. It seems like it's all about points and sucking up to people so they will give you points: point farmers, people asking congrats questions for people that aren't even a friend. I love the points too but it seems some people are obsessed with it.

I've given it hard thought about why I don't like recognition. I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome about 5 years ago. As a child with very high IQ but very low social skills even positive recognition brought on more teasing and bullying. So I just stopped answering questions in class, etc. Fade into the background, don't even attempt to socialize etc.
