Some cars will do this. The solution, funny as it sounds, is just to jiggle the steering wheel back and forth while you try to turn the key. It should eventually allow the key to turn.

Quite often when your key won't turn it's because a "pin" inside the lock is jammed. Try squirting WD-40 or some other kind of penetrating oil into the lock and give it some time to work. After a bit the oil should allow the pin to slide and this will let your key to work again. On the off chance you've bent a pin you'll need a good manual so that you can take apart the steering column to remove the ignition lock so that it can be replaced. If you don't feel up to this then call a tow truck and have it towed to a Ford dealership to have your ignition lock replaced.

I tried the WD-40 and I tried the steering wheel jiggle. It worked. The key is to jiggle the steering wheel with your left hand at the same time you're turning the key with the right.
