Female Atheists: Does the demeaning role of women in the Bible (and most religious texts) have anything to do with your current belief system?

    Not in the least. The thing that put me off was the hypocracy in the church, the meanness of church-goers and the bible-bashing idiocy of evangelicals. If they are an example of what religion does to people I would advise everyone to run as far away as possible when they approach you. Alot of the women have horrendous personality and personal problems too and that is why they are there.

    The female depiction in ancient texts is how it was in those times...not meant to be demeaning but the womans place was in the home doing the homely chores while the man was in the fields tending to the flocks where it was a little dangerous for the woman to be...and much of the older beliefs of how woman should be are still in place in these same countrys even today such as the Muslim beliefs
