In a bind, I used to make the truck pay for itself by delivering phone books from it. Maybe you can deliver pizzas. Basically that way the vehicle directly pays for itself.
One way or another start looking for a plan and call the finance company. If you say nothing then they have every reason to repossess.
You can try to negotiate with the finance company regarding your payments to prevent your truck from being repo'd. They will want to know what kept you from paying the payments and how you can catch up and not let that happen again. Since you say you are on a fixed income, you may not be able to convince them of this. You will need to find a supplemental source of income or sell some items to make up for the payments.
If you can't give them some sort of assurance of ability to catch up on payments and continue to make payments, you probably are best to give the truck to the finance company. This will save some face with credit then let truck get repo'd so if your situation improves in the future, you will have an easier time getting a vehicle than if you let truck get repo'd.
Call your lender and speak to them about making some different arrangements.
Find a way to make a payment, or get used to the idea of taking the bus, everywhere you go.
