My dog started limping on her right front paw, i took her to the vet to see what it was but there was no fracture or it wsnt broken. She started limping again a week later, she does it mostly when she gets up from a nap. What could be the problem?

your dog might have just slept on it wrong, esp. if u notice her limping only when she wakes up... thats like us, if u lay on ur hand all night and u wake up, isnt it usually asleep? and takes a little while to come back to normal so we can use it? If u have already taken her to the vet and got x-rays, than that tells u it isnt broke- but if u are still unsure, get a second opinion from a different vet- good luck.

Have you ever slept in an odd position and had a limb tingle or fall asleep? Perhaps that happens to dogs too?

sounds like your dogs paw fell asleep, maybe get her different bedding to lay on.

My parents' dog did that and it turned out to be luxating patellus. I wonder how thorough the vet was if the problem could not be determined?

Sounds like she has a little arthritis like I have. Sometimes I'm a bit stiff when I stay in the same position for too long. :):)

My flat-coated retriever got up and started to limp on her front right leg, then after 10 minutes she collapsed, went anemic, I got her to the vets straight away and they put her on a drip, after 2 weeks recovering and numerous tests, she then got up on the 23/8/2010, was very slow and looked in a lot of pain, she collapsed again. 1 hour later I was told she had a tumor on her heart and it was bleeding into the sac around the heart, and most certain one on her spleen. We had to have her put to sleep that day. So a painful foot could be anything from lameness to something serious. Get the animal to the vets as soon as possible. What Ebony had were classic signs of a tumor which I found out too late. Before that I had noticed her groaning when she laid down or when getting up but just put it down to her age, it was obviously the tumor that was hurting her. So at the moment, 1 week 2 days I am still in a lot of pain blaming myself for her death, for not getting her to the vets sooner. Don't take risks, if you are worried about it and are looking on here for answers, you really should pay the vets a visit.
