I think it really varies depending on the woman (like everything in pregnancy/birth!)
I have many friends who say they disinfected the house top to bottom a day or so before labour and had lots of energy.
I didn't notice any difference in myself (first time mum) - however my contractions started out at 1 and a half minutes apart and I gave birth in just four hours! It was early in the morning so I was sleepy - I spent most of the labour in a shower, bent over a birthing ball and trying to doze.
No. And labor itself (at least for first births) is usually a very long process, often lasting two days. So before this would have to be perhaps 3 days before giving birth.
Does it take longer for a mother to recover fully from a Caesarean operation than a natural childbirth?

You're reading Is it true that a woman gets a "burst" of energy right before she goes into labor?

I had a huge burst of energy right before I posted this question and everyone thought I would go into labor right away. Here we are all this time later and he still isn't here! I will be induced Monday morning if he hasn't come yet though, so YAY me! lol I am so ready to be done with this pregnancy!!! With my first son my contractions started at midnight at 3 minutes apart, it took me about 7 1/2 hours to deliver him, so consider yourself lucky! That is pretty uncommon for a first time pregnancy. Thanks for your answer.+5

I think that raspberry leaf really helped - meant to strengthen your uterus so contractions are more efficient. Plus I think the castor oil (taken 8 and a half hours before labour started) was what started her on the way! Good luck!

I have been drinking rasberry leaf tea all weekend, it's funny you mentioned it. My first son's bus driver recommended it to me. I'm scared of the castor oil because I heard it gives stomach aches. Thanks!
