  • Primarily its because there is no subway system in the most dense and highly populated areas of Northern Va. The density of several highrise offices buildings, apartments, and shopping centers require mass transit that can accomodate a large amount of people in a short period of time. The northern va area has every aspect of a big city without enough public transportation to support it. The Washington DC subway system extends out to Northern Va. in some select areas, however it does not extend far enough to serve the areas where its needed most so everyone must drive. There are busses that take you around town, however, they tend to take longer in getting you to your destination.
