On average, false.

True

False, as most generalizations are. SOME liberals, just as some conservatives, are intolerant; others are more tolerant.
-
They are both just as defensive and arrogant as any.
-
I have spent countless hours perusing conservative and liberal blogs, forums, and websites, and I can tell you that, from my observations and experiences, both groups are equally intolerant, authoritarian, and outright psychotic at times.
-
It seems to be very true from what I have witnessed. As long as you agree with them it's all good, but the minute that you don't the name calling ensues from them.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Thanks. I needed that.

I'm thinking I'm going to go with whatever you're thinking and considering who is asking I think I have a pretty good idea of what that is and I would lie to thank you for sharing. Enjoy your life. +5
-
I would have to say it is true. even if their intolerance is merely equal... their preaching of tollerance makes them hypocrites
-
A plague on BOTH their houses!
-
As broad generalizations go, that would be false. There are some liberals AND conservatives who are intolerant, but not all of either.
-
There are different levels of intolerent people on both sides. I've known both.
-
In general most liberals I have met are not very understanding others views. However, I have met conservatives who are also anti-other viewpoints.
-
Conservatives and liberals are about the same. No clear winner. Neo-cons, on the other hand, will argue about whether it's raining or not, standing underneath an umbrella.
-
False. Liberals tend to be more willing to sit down and talk about issues while conservatives tend to refuse any way but there own. Want evidence, look at George "The Decider" Bush, and Barack Obama. Both push an agenda, but only one called himself the decider.
-
eff liberals and conservatives in th A
-
Both are equally intolerant of the opinions of the other side. Liberals though tend to be more tolerant of people as a whole. Conservatives seem to find any number of reasons to hate others. That's why I'm proud to be an independent. Neither side is always right.
-
False. Liberals by their nature are easy going and more tolerant than most folk. The dictionary says this about Liberals: Adjective liberal (comparative more liberal, superlative most liberal) Positive liberal Comparative more liberal Superlative most liberal 1. Generous in quantity. Add a liberal sprinkling of salt. 2. A political description, following liberalism. 3. Based on optimistic assumptions. At a liberal estimate, growth could exceed 5% next year. 4. Favoring social freedom; permissive. Her parents had liberal ideas about child-rearing. 5. Favoring ideas that treat all people with equal justice regardless of educational, financial, sexual or racial status. 6. (US) Opposing conservative positions, particularly those of social conservatives. 7. (British) Opposing both conservative and socialist positions, particularly those of economic protectionists and authoritarians. 8. (US) Related to classical liberalism.
-
In my experience, true.
-
Everyone sucks.
-
Both are intolerant, but judging from my debates on the internet I find Liberals are far more (but I don't know about real life). They often just starts threads like 'Christians are so stupid, believing in a make believe God'. And just overall more flamebaiting type arguements like that.
-
Generally speaking, false. The reason being that self-described liberals/conservatives are equally intolerant of the other. My personal belief is that conservativism is essentially the rejection of outside skepticism. It's the belief that the individual's beliefs are right and ignore beliefs to the contrary. So in a way, any time a liberal is intolerant of a opinion that has merit, they are exercising their conservative nature. So to a conservative, it comes across as entirely hypocritical, where as liberals focus on tolerance of people and not necessarily ideas. . I don't consider myself either. I've been called a "liberal pussy" and been called "Republican" in a demeaning way. People will always be intolerant of something. And anyone who tells you differently, is intolerant of intolerance. +3

I think that is something you can only answer when you've been on both sides. I was raised to be a liberal Democrat and believed what they were selling for a long time. I truly believed that Republicans were intolerant and evil and that Democrats were the tolerant party of minorities. Eventually time and experience changed my opinions and I found myself in the opposing camp. And now that I am in the opposing camp, I can see just how intolerant that liberal Democrat point of view is. I can see now that often when they claim to be the party that supports women and minorities, they are often doing exactly the opposite. The programs put in place to "help" often harm. The laws that are supposed to give freedom and equality often bind in practice. The tolerance is only extended to people they agree with, which isn't tolerance by definition. Meantime, those "intolerant" Republicans are often very loving people, even to those they don't agree with. Not all Republicans are Christians, which isn't what I was taught as a child. And those who aren't Christian are sometimes very different from those who are. But those who are Christians and who practice and study their faith are often very good at hating the sin but still deeply loving the sinner. But that to me is the definition of tolerance. A tolerant person may not change their own views to agree with someone that they don't agree with, but they can still let them be and love them. And why is it that I can see now what I couldn't see before? Because now that I am in the opposing camp, I am catching a full load, full bore of the very intolerance that the liberal Democrats are so good at slinging at those they don't agree with. I am finding pure hatred slung at me at times, just because I don't agree with them. It is very off-putting and at times they can be a bit scary. I'm finding myself wondering how I could ever have been so blind as to believe what they were and are still saying. How could I have allowed myself to hate the way they are now hating me?
-
False - ALL people who use political labels are intolerant of other people's views.
-
Are we talking America? If so, no one seems very tolerant of anyone else's opinions, liberal or conservative alike. Both sides resort to the same tactics.
-
Everyone, liberal or conservative have strong opinions or they would not be calling themselves these brand names. I am liberal and I dislike these freakazoids who pass themselves off as conservatives trying to ride ruffshod over my opinions. It's about time Liberals come out of the woodwork for godsssake. We sat their on our collective asses and watched the Republican party destroy this country and we are sick of it. So get out of the way WE ARE BACK.
-
true
-
TRUE.
-
From what i have seen I think both are pretty steadfast in their opinions, but if i had to make a choice i would say Liberals tend to listen to the argument a little better then conservatives, all conservatives i know and see are super steadfast in their beliefs and will not be swayed 1%, Liberals are almost as bad but i think a little less. If you need proof of this look at how stead fast the republicans are holding together and trying to block absolutely everything Obama says, and then look at how many democrats have actually sided with the republicans, some of them are indeed liberal democrats.
-
Let's see the brilliant answers we get on here about this one. Let me guess. The Liberals are going to say the conservatives are less tolerant and guess what????? The conservatives are going to say that the Liberals are less tolerant. What an eye opener this question is.
-
False, of course there are closed minded, intolerant individuals, groups on both sides of the political debate, but liberals are usually more open to new different ideas, accepting of different people and culture.
-
Holy Jebus. :/ False, liberals are not all 'one person', I've met liberals who were open minded and others who maul conservatives on sight, same thing with conservatives. -.-
-
Simply put: False.
-
The terms liberal and conservative are meaningless in the contemporary political context. In modern times, both require heavy handed authoritarian and expensive governments to force their will upon those who have differing opinions. Thus, neither are particularly tolerant of other opinions.
-
True.
-
False. This tends to depend on how partisan a person is. And I have met far more ultra partisan conservatives than ultra partisan liberals. I also find it sad that ultra partisan conservatives (most hate groups like the Aryan Brotherhood are made up of these) are very comfortable with violence against "libruls" and minorites. So, in that regard, who is more intolerant?
-
True. /sarcasm on Any one that disagrees that liberals are more tolerant are extreme right wing, facscist, nazi, bigoted, tea bagging, homophobes that have sex with their mothers. They hate blacks, and want to kill old people and steal their organs. They hate children, poison the water and the air. That is why they are against abortion. And would sell their souls, if they had any, just to kick puppies. They should all be outlawed and thrown in jail or at least killed in the street as the intolerant a-holes they are. They had an old guy attack a code pink guy and force him to bite off the old guys finger, just to make us look bad. There were never any weapons of mass destruction, no blood for oil!! Bush lied and he is stupid. He also tricked us into voting for the war before we voted against it. They want to kill you and enslave the world. They plan to sink africa to kill black people. Aids is a right and the CIA made it to give to black people so they could steal africa. All republicans should die! Do it for the children. Bush lied!! Bush lied!!! The government is smuggling in drugs to kill black people!!! Bush lied!! Bush lied!!! Death to the intolerant!!! /sarcasm off Sadly I cannot turn them off as easily. One other point. The two most common things in the universe are, Hydrogen and Stupidity.
-
I think it depends on the person. I've meet some liberals that were dead set in their ways and others that were very open minded. I can say the same about conservatives.
-
By definition conservatives are resistant to change (i.e. intolerant) and liberals embrace useful change (i.e. tolerant), so I think your argument is backside first.
-
False, most conservatives are racist bigots especially in the South. Conservative from the NE and West coast are a bit better.
-
Ridiculous
