According to the University of California - Berkley Career Center, a pharmacy degree usually requires four years of academic study. Upon successful completion of the course, students are awarded a Pharm.D. degree. This qualifies them to take the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX). Once the exam is successfully completed, state licensure can be applied for.
