    Nowhere legal.

Microsoft didn't get where they are today by giving stuff away for free.

Some people think that the copy of Windows that comes pre-installed on computers is free, but it isn't; it's included in the price. That is why buying a computer running Linux from the factory is cheaper than the exact same computer running Windows.

In the case of the Aspire One netbook, the price difference is $50, of which $15 of that goes to Microsoft. Yes, Microsoft makes $15 for *every* netbook sold with WinXP pre-installed!

The same goes for Microsoft Office, and any other MS program. The only software you can get from them for free are trial-versions, demos, and some add-ons for MS products (like TweakUI and other PowerToys for Windows).

There are no legal ways for some, but some programs like Windows Defender, latest Visual Studio are free, because they suck and nobody won't pay anything for that trash...
All the goodies cost, unless you pirate them. ;)
