If you give back the car it is a voluntary repo. You will not have to make the payments anymore but you will have to pay off the balance after they sell the car at auction.
Is there a tax deduction for lease payments?

I think that is correct. I knew a lady at work that tried to take the care back and they wouldn't take it. She drove it until they came and got it. You would have to pay off the balance after they sell it at auction. You could also file bankrupcy. Then you might be able to keep the car if that is your only car. You could contact a not for profit credit counselor to see what they say.
