Help answer this question below.
Religious people often own more than one bible. Religious organizations buy bibles in bulk and often give them away. Also, there are so many different translations and versions of the bible, that if anyone wants to do any real research they have to have access to several different bibles.

It pretty much supports what me and some others here have said, plus makes the point, "With more and different interpretations being published every year, owning the latest and greatest version of the Bible has created a mini fashion revolution in some religious circles."
+4 Churches buy Bibles in bulk for public use. If you don't count these then I doubt that the Bible is currently the best selling book in the world. I'm pretty sure that books like the Da Vinci code, the Harry Potter books etc., sold more copies than the Bible did in the years that they were published.
Because of all those hotels they're building.
It realeses a really nice scent when burning... Ok IM ONLY KIDDING HERE.
But seriously, many people find comfort in the bible, and even people who are not religious seem to want a bible in the house for the same reason.
Because over 90% of the world's adults are religious & 1/3 of them are Christians.
Sad, really, that humanity can't shake its prehistoric preoccupation with superstition and magical thinking. It's a failure of education...
I grew up in a Protestant family, and my dad owned approximately 20 bibles of his own. Granted, he has a Doctor of Divinity degree, but I would say the majority of christian households have several bibles. 1.6 billion estimated Christians in the world, with the average buying a new bible every 3 years. It adds up.
No one can deny it contains some pretty amazing stories
in it: a talking snake, a 600 year old guy put all the
animals and birds of the world in a boat, a dude with
a magic wand split the ocean in half, a talking donkey,
a burning bush talks, a guy walks on water, a woman is
turned into a pile of salt, a guy screwed both of his
two daughters(the story says he was drunk.....aaah...right!). I mean it makes it quite an inetersting
reading.
You first make a statement about religion in general, then tie that to the Bible. I could just as easily say, "When it seems like many people are turning away from religion, why does the Bhagavad Gita continue to be the Best Selling book?" (In India, it is.) The Bible does not apply to all religion, and this is a point worth making.
I own several Bibles. I have my mother's, and the one that came with her tombstone. All libraries have several copies, as do academic institutions. Indeed, it is important to be well-versed in the Bible, as so many continue to place faith in it. This faith often has a real impact on life, especially politics.
Many groups buy Bibles in bulk and give them away. I used to accept them to be polite, but now I'm loathe to assist in the destruction of so many trees. The Gideons put them in every hotel room. It hardly means that they are read and believed.
Finally, many people continue to believe in the Bible. To say that the percentage of the population who believe in the Bible is diminishing is in no way to say that the total number of believers has not increased. The total number of believers has increased, because overall population has increased. Believers simply aren't as large a majority as they used to be.
It doesn't. The Enquirer is about as far as most people can read.
I've heard such about the Q'uran and the book of Mormon.
there are many claims to such. But where is the proof?
And which one? There are many versions of the bible. Some of which include books that the KJV doesn't include.
Got Beanie Babies?
Why is the Bible still the best seller? For a simple fact; that is the Word of God. Also the miracles that Jesus performed as stated in the New Testament ... is still seen happening in the 21st century. So why would anybody not want to buy a Bible ...
Regards ..
I hadn't realized it was on the 'bestsellers list'
people gotta burn something for firewood.... i guess.
