Do you think it would be good if universal sign language was mandatorily taught in public school worldwide?

    Well, there is not a "universal" sign language. There is American Sign Language, British Sign Language, and many others, and they are quite different from each other.

    Our school system offers ASL as a regular foreign language course, which I think is a good idea. Making this mandatory, I'm not too sure about.

    no, but i think everybody should be given the oportunity to learn it in school. Some kids have enough problems gaining just basic english skills without forcing them to do sign language, french and german. Even for the guys with a good level of english, that's a harsh overload of languages!

    The trouble is that there is no universal sign language. There are over 30 different language sign languages! And, no, it would not be good, as people would not use it outside the schoolroom and would forget it.
