Yes ......a stiff jail sentence if you get caught with it...but with that being said you can make one yourself with some basic machining skills..it may take a little playing with to get it right but its all in the muffling chamber.. the quantity and shape of the holes from the projectile chamber to the muffling chamber make a huge difference in performance of the final sound. typically you need enough room in the muffling chamber for 125% of the projectile's displacement to absorb and muffle the sound. most silencers actually do not silence the full soundwave but muffle the precussion from the powder charge and allow the super sonic projectile sound wave to remain...hence the high pitched air sound heard through the silencer...the biggest proble is that to truly silence a waepon for clandestine use you must also silence the action of the weapon as well.
