Help answer this question below.

98 ford F150. Truck Feels like something is grabbing or seized up in the rear area. Have noticed this after long hwy travel(150m)and have come to a stop or parked for a few mins. Suspect Rear brakes or differential?

    Don't know but my wife's 98 ford has the same problem. Took a quick look at the rear brakes and could see no problem. The brake pedal will drop slightly after the truck as been setting at a red light for a while. Don't know if this is due to a leaking master cylinder or air in the system. The same thing seem to happen when the brakes grab/release then operate normally. I'm going to replace the fluid then clean the master clyinder if replacing the fluid does not fix. Will answer back

    You could put your hand near or close to the area to feel the heat. Friction produces heat. you could also use a portable thermometer if you have one. It could be a # of problems including your e-brake seizing up. Your sense of smell is also a good detective here.

    A friend of mine had a similar thing happen on the highway. Turns out his bearings went bad...you'd be smart to at least check it out so you don't have a wreck. He had a close call and was able to pull into a weigh station on the road.
