Yes. I actually think that priests not being allowed to marry greatly contributes to the stereotype of priests being child molesters. They should be allowed to marry. I see no reason why they shouldn't be able to that makes sense. I would love to know how Catholic people deal with I Timothy 3. See my comments below.

I don't see how this protects church assets -- the church isn't liable to support the children of a priest. It makes no sense.

It didn't do much good when countless lawsuits against priests molesting kids ended up with Church assets leaving church hands. The church needs to change it's ways, and stop ignoring the sexuality of their clergy.

The priest is supposed to channel all his energy towards his religion. Having a family sometimes detours him away from that path. - My real view is that depriving somebody of his sexuality borders on inhumanity. Celibacy is one of the worst emotional punishment to Man. And Woman. Can anybody really abstain from sex all his/her adult life? Sex is not just fun but a release.
