Not all asians drink green tea. Black tea is common in Mongolia, Tibet, Russia, etc. Green tea loses its flavor very fast, so it needs to be fresh. Societies near where it was produced traditionally tend to drink green tea. Black tea can hold its flavor for years, so it was used for trade. So, societies that had to import tea from a long distance tended toward black tea. This is why Europeans only had black tea until the early 1900's. Its also a self reinforcing tradition - if you grow up drinking green tea, you will tend to continue to drink it and give the same thing to your kids.
