  • about 4 miles on rope
  • I was talking to someone who does that - like a thousand jumps worth daily, but not all together (with short breaks) - supposed to be good for cardio and coordination. Obviously that can't be your whole weight loss program though.
  • Well, possibly for the critters it is a kind of jail. For those of us who can't see them in the wild it is cool.
  • It is extremely good exercise. As part of an overall exercise program to lose weight, I'd think it a fine tool. +5
  • I have heard that you can lose weight by having sex, but I imagine you have to do it a lot too just like jumping rope
  • Of course it is true. It is cardio exercise. For moderate jumping a person who is 130 lbs can burn around 590 calories per hour.
  • If you start out and jump until you are tired and then add a few minutes increase each day until you get to about a half hour, you will be giving yourself an awesome cardio exercise.
  • More than you have time for if you have other obligations. You need other exercises and a diet plan also.
  • Fact from fiction, truth from diction. It does help. that is why fighters do it. But jumping rope alone is a lot of work and not as effective when used with other movements. Boxers do rope work but they do it in reps, like 1 minute jumping, 30 sec rest, another minute of rope, another 30 sec rest, and do this for like 8 to 10 reps etc. But they wouls also use road work (running), the heavy bag, and the speed bag. Mix it up, use the ropes along with strength training and such to get the full benefit.
  • Several coils at least I would think. Maybe even a whole spool....
