  • The reason that you car is sputtering is becuase of there being oil in the PCV valve. The PCV valve is a vaccumm valve. You could basically call it a breather for your car. Anytime you disconnect or a vaccumm line and try to drive with it then it will sputter and want to stall. You may need to change the valve again, plus the vaccumm line. what it sounds like is that theres oil plugging up the lines or the valve and its not letting it get air freely like it should be.
  • After all your changes, drive your vehicle for at least fifty miles. the check engine light should go out completely. engine emissions sometime take time to make the circle to the check engine light.
  • I also have a 2001 Ford Taurus and the power steering pump required replacement, prior to replacing the pump, oil leak on the engine case the check engine light to come on. I check the code and can't reset it after replacing the pump. It indicated the dealer should be contacted to clear the code??????
