  • No this is not a legit condition! You have a serious phobia and should probably see a Doctor about getting you on Xanax or something similar. Its funny though because I just started reading a book called Maneater and its about a "worm" Dr. that studies parasites and infectious dieseases, apparently like 1 in 3 people have parasites in America but they are usually harmless and the people never know it. You'll be fine! Just stay away from the truck stops and migrant mexican hangouts, I say that because theres alot of parasites shipped here from foods and meats in Mexico.
  • i have years of cooking experence and yours is a commo mis-conception. the dishes served "flaming" have alchol left over in them, but it is consumed by the flames. alchol eveaporates at room temperture, and when cooked it is GONE. a good example is if you put beer in the freezer, or vodka, wine, ect...it will not freeze. it has a much lower freezing point that effects the rest of the solution. so when a liquor is used in cooking it is only for flavor. no alchol content at all. it is legal to serve "beer battered fish/squash/exc" to minors, wine glazed duck, liqor flavored anything (even soup) to minors because it is "clean". i am a muslim and connot consum alchole but even i have no problem with useing it in my cooking. no worries my friend.
  • I'm unclear on exactly what you're not afraid to eat. Are you saying you are afraid to eat anything that someone else prepared when you couldn't see them? Why do you feel like this? It sounds like you do have a legitimate problem and probably ought to see a psychiatrist about it. Anything that keeps you from leading a normal life and/or causes abnormal social behavior is considered a legitimate complaint.
  • i don't know how big a community you live in. i supervised a clinical psychologist with eating disorders specialization. i recommend your specifically seeing one to help you with this situation. it sounds like its causing you concerns and a well trained cognitive-behaviorally trained ED psychologist can help.
  • People (and animals) can develop phobias about just about anything. Rats and mice quickly develop aversions to particular foods if something makes them nauseated or sick after they eat. Which is not unreasonable or a bad instinct to have, when you think about it. Our brains are more complicated so there are more connections that potentially get mixed up in the picture. Did you have some experience either dining at a restaurant, or when you worked in one, that kicked this off? Have you always felt this way or, if not, how did it start? In any event, it is a legit condition -- whether it's an acquired phobic reflex all by itself or one that's reinforced by something more complicated. Whether its a problem or not is basically determined by whether it's interfering with your life. If it is, it's not that difficult to find psychologists or psychiatrists to help you work through it.
