Does Garlic Juice really deter fleas on dogs or is it just a myth? If it does how long does it take to work?

I am not for sure .. I buy Brewer's Yeast 'n Garlic Pills for my 67 pound Pit Terrier and ahve for about eighteen months now ... He does NOT have fleas or ticks ... BUT; I've read that Garlic is not good for dogs .... I don't know what else to use that isn't so darn expensive ... Hopefully someone KNOWS and not just speculates on this question ... Thanks +5

I don't know. I've actually never heard that. My dog has never had fleas but we live in the country so ticks are thick. The stuff you buy in the store DOES NOT work for fleas or ticks - believe me we tried & so did my parents whose dogs HAD fleas. The stuff from the vet & petmeds is expensive but TOTALLY worth the money. It not only gets rid of ticks on your pet but also in your house & yard. We buy ours from foster & smith. It's usually quite a bit cheaper. One thing you want to pay attention to though if you order - when you get the product, make sure it was made in your country. If you live in the USA & it was made in Germany, it's likely not to work on the kind of fleas & ticks you have at home. Also, other countries measure weight different. I've never had an issue with getting the right stuff from F&S but it has been a concern from others when I was reasearching the best meds. Good luck - I'm gunna follow this question!
