Yes. There are rag pickers in India who make a living by salvaging whatever they can out of the garbage we dispose off. Even small pieces of paper, plastic, iron, glass or other things that are recyclable are picked up by them and sold to dealers who deal in 'Trash'. The rag pickers get paid for their trouble and make a living out of their profession. The dealers send the collected items to respective recycling units which pay the dealers. This is a good thing in that a lot of trash gets recycled and a few unfortunate people who have no other means to make a living get an income.

No. However, I often go through my own garbage.

No. But I did find someone asleep in my garbage once. I gave him a mug of coffee and a fried breakfast, he had the worst hangover ever!

No, but I have gone through other peoples trash left on the side, like old chairs, flower pots etc. I'm an aritst and I painted a picture over an oil canvass that had a perfectly good frame and all. It came out really good.

Twice at work. It's little unnerving when you go to throw something out and someone is digging through the dumpster.

No, I have not caught someone going my garbage but I have often seen people going the garbage in a public dumpsite.

No but the homeless people here walk around with flashlights and go through the recycling bins, looking for anything of value or that can be returned. I hear them often at night or when I leave for work I sometimes see them. I don`t mind so much as long as they don`t make a mess. Sometimes I even through a few bottles or cans in there to see if a bum will pick them up.

We have a bunch of people in my town that I see going through people's garbage looking for aluminum cans and things like that. I've never had someone go through my garbage that I've seen though.+3
