What a good question! Society teaches us that it is good to be honest, as does religion. The reason why I think it is good is because it leads us closer to the truth. Think about all the secrets there would be if everyone lied. People could be cheated, feelings could be hurt and it would be a negative atmosphere. Honesty is highly regarded by many and as such, is seen as a good thing. Except for brutal honesty, which can sometimes be mean....Though I think it better to be an honest meanie than a lying one.
