If she is on the account with you absolutely yes. Even if she didn't put her name on the account with you if she has set it up online she can look at it. If you do not want your mother to have access to YOUR account, I suggest you withdraw your money and open another account. It is a good idea to have someone on the account with you though. You can't take your mother's name off of the current account but you can surely withdraw your money and open an account of your own.

Hi FrenchTruth, and Welcome to Answerbag! +5 points on your great question. The only way to know for sure is to go to the bank in person. Ask them this question. In case you don't like the answer, bring along a photo ID or some proof that you are 18. A birth certificate would be great, but a photo ID such as driver's license or State ID showing both photo and date of birth may suffice. Also, bring along a bank statement you have received in the mail, a check book or something that shows the account number. The bank may be able to adjust the account to remove her. If not, see if you can withdraw the money without her co-signing for it (now that you are 18). Close this account and open a new account in your own name under your own power. Deposit your funds in the new account. Good Luck, and I hope this works out for you! I don't know if you still live at home or what your relationship with your Mother is. Open communication is always best, but I understand it is not always possible.
