I only read the first book, so I am not sure about any info other than that, but in the first book, John, Spartan 117 is recruited as a kid and trained. Being the most well roundeded of his class and a natural leader, he is made master chief while still in training. No mention of his father.
However, it's still certainly possible that there were other masterchiefs beforehand, just not with the supersuits.
I'm trying to play Area 51 (2005) on my Xbox360 and it tells me I need an update to support original xbox games. Where can I update it?

You're reading Someone told me that that in the books of halo that the spartan 117 wasnt masterchief yet and that his father was and wen he died that 117 became the masterchief is this info correct and if not plz correct it
