The Judge hasn't decided to send her back to her parents but has decided it is not within his jurisdiction and to return her to her state of origin. The matter of physical threat has been investigated and found to be insubstantiated. She is a minor and dependent upon her parents who as a family need to apply for permission to stay in the US. The girl has been subjected to mental "persuasion" to relinquish her religion and to take up another. Unless it is argued for another "enlightenment on the road to damascus". A period away from her "persuaders", would give her time for reflection. I don't think it unreasonable for her parents to wish to respond to her persuaders teachings, no doubt the strength and fairness of that response will be considered. They have more than an interest in the well-being of the girl, they are her parents , love the child and have her interest at heart. Or are we to assume they are lesser mortals? Returning her to her family seems reasonable and I appreciate the judges caution in so doing.

I don't have enough information to answer the question intelligently.

The Judge washed his hands of it! He passed it on! It is a headache that the Fed needs to handle! He essentialy bought the girl more time to come of age so she can applie for residency on her own.

All the judge did was to order her back to Ohio. It will be up to the Ohio judge to determine whether or not she goes back to her family. In the meantime, she will be in the custody of Children's Services.

This WOMAN is 17, she is no kid. Frankly i don't see their forcing her to return to her parents against her will for whatever reason.

I think the powers that be should allow her to stay in foster care until she turns 18. If someone leaves their home and says they are afraid their parents will kill them if they go back, there must be something wrong. Give her the benefit of the doubt for the sake of making 100% sure she is safe.

She didn't get sent back to her family, thank God. Seriously, though, what would it take to make a teenage girl run away? She must have been very sure that they would have killed her.

Your question is deceptive: the judge didn't say that she must go back to her family, he said that she must go back to Ohio. She is legally under the age of consent, and therefore the problem of the state of which she is a resident, not the one she has fled to. If there is a threat to her life, it is up to the Ohio state authorities to keep her safe - just as they must do for all their citizens. But Ohio is a big state: if there is a real threat, they can put her in foster care a long way from those making the threats. If the parents were really murderous, it would hardly be harder for them to fly down to Florida than to drive across the state of Ohio.

I don't have enough information and it seems like she is not being sent back by what the article said. The thought did cross my mind that that would be good thing to say if you wanted to stay in the USA and not go back to the middle east no matter what you really believed in. Just a thought.

Yes judge's decision was right. because according to every religion that the child which is not mature did not belong to any religion. so according to this point of view the judge was right. thanks
