    Asker's Pick

Selected by the asker, The Gay Expositor Avenges His Lordship. (What's this?)

Or maybe they are serial killers. When you think about it, they are killing multiple living things, which does in fact make them a serial killer. The fact that they are doing it for enjoyment doesn't help the matter.

well, I've never myself understood the desire to spend literally thousands of dollars on guns, bows, licenses, trucks, 4 wheelers, tree stands, calls, trailer hitches, bait and tackle, and the countless other pieces of gear just to bring home a few bucks in meat that you could just as easily pick up at the grocer.

I can't deny the meat is fresher and probably safer than what you get in the stores, but it really does seem like a lot of money and time invested for little return...so I have to assume these people are getting something else out of this whole thing than just meat.

Maybe it is for sport, maybe they like shooting guns, or spending time in the wilderness..I dunno.
They might be a little gun crazy or wacky to some people but I don't think they are borderline serial killers....if that makes a man a borderline serial killer then we should just lock up every soldier in a nuthouse right now.

But you never know, tell me how crazy you think they are when there's a zombie apocalypse and they have all the food, guns, seclusion and means to survive...then again they might shoot you and eat you..so maybe they are crazy.

Well I myself hunt a lot but I do it for a lot of reasons. Mainly just for the enjoyment of the wilderness but I also keep the meat and the hide. If it is a deer then I might mount it but if people hunt it doesn't make them a serial killer or even near one unless they tortured animals or, for instance, shot at them so they could watch it bleed to death.

Some people try to make that sick correlation, but one has nothing to do with the other!!!! Humans versus animals, without equivocation humans first!!

Aren't people who verbally assault others with false accusations of evil intent just a few shades away from lunacy?

OK I just killed a bowl of Captain Crunch, let's go sport hunting.

Hey sport, hold this target and stand right there.....hold it....hold it.....

No. You're being a little ridiculous. I hunt and I fish, and I eat what I keep. I have done all my life. I live within a national park, and often stalk wildlife to see how close to them I can get, and without killing them unless they are foxes, rabbits or feral cats and dogs. It is a natural male instinct, and fulfilling it is a source of pleasure. I also photograph wildlife. The "hunters" that I find below contempt are those who shoot from a vehicle, or those who shoot for trophies.
Serial killers are people with disturbed minds who have access to weapons. Often, they have never been out of a city, let alone hunted. And even more often, they are heads of governments, like Pol Pot or Idi Amin.

You surely can't be serious with that question. You must be a member of PETA.

The simple answer to this is a big no, Research serial killers, they don't hunt for sport, they tortured animals when they were young, they are mentally unstable people, even if they have high iq's alot.

Um, no. First, it's a long way from killing an animal to killing a human being. Second, hunters use the meat for food, either for themselves or to a food bank. Third, hunting "thins the heard", so that the remaining game is more viable.

Why on earth would you say something like that? It's about as far from the truth as you can get and still be marginally sane!

I wouldn't say that because I don't think there is a way to be a few shades away from something like that. But I do think that people who hunt for sport are jackasses who need to understand what hunting is really about instead of just killing something with big gun to make up for their tiny dicks.

    Nope. Not even close.

This is not to say that there are no serial killers who hunt for sport. But serial killers are rare, indeed.

In fact, despite common beliefs, it's INCREDIBLY difficult for most of the human population to deliberately take the life of another human being. It's not nearly so easy people would have you believe.

I invite you to read a book called "On Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Society", by Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman.

You can find it pretty cheap on line, such as Amazon, for example:
    http://www.amazon.com/Killing-Psychological-Cost-Learning-Society/dp/0316330116

Just because a person hunts, whether for sport or food, doesn't mean they're a hairsbreath away from being a dangerous sociopath in humansociety. It doesn't work that way.
