How can I not let people's rude comments (not here on AB, people are nice here) in the real world not get to me? How do some of you handle stuff like that (like ppl laughing at you or something like that?)

well you have to take into consideration that no one really knows anything, especially about you or anyone else or even themselves for that matter. So why should somoene's mistaken subjective opinion or comment to you really bother you?

Most people that use hurtful language do it to either belittle someone and stroke their own ego (offset their own shortcomings and feelings of inadequacy),or because they know it can effect you.

You can never please everyone, the reality of it is you can never really please anyone fully..if you go about your life worried and upset by what your peers or friends or family or co-workers or boss or anyone else thinks or says about you..well hell, you'll never be happy.

You have to learn to turn on the filter and separate constructive feedback from critical insults and even then take it with a grain of salt. You can't remove yourself from every rude, ignorant, stupid, hateful person..so you just have to learn to be strong and become comfortable with who you are and not worry about others.

Knowing that you aren't alone and that you have your family and friends who love and protect you. Their opinion of you means more than someone who is just trying to make themselves feel better by bringing you down.

I hate to say it but age and experience.

After awhile you realize that people who say/do such things make themselves look the jackass, not you. You also come to realize that their opinions, and insults, are irrelevant if they are going to say/do such things.

By now I just look at them like the mildly distasteful insects they are and consider the source.
