Help answer this question below.
Apoptosis is a totally natural and completely necessary process. It is merely a sequence of events in which cells respond to a stimulus, whether environmental, chemical, metabolic or something else, by undergoing a deliberate cell death. It takes place millions of times a day. And if apoptosis malfunctions you will certainly end up with cancer.
Mental health disorders cover a massive range of diverse conditions, some related others unique, of which in almost all the underlying causes are incredibly complex and potentially vast in number. It is conceivable that inappropriate apoptosis in the brain could lead to catastrophic damage. The symptoms of this would include mental health and cognitive issues but almost certainly an increasingly severe array of neurological symptoms. Unchecked, they would die. However this is certainly extremely rare if it happens at all really. And so in no way could you say that "mental illness" is caused by apoptosis is certainly not correct at all.
Remember: apoptosis is normal. Apoptosis is essential. Apoptosis happens literally millions of times a day in your body. Any regular event carried out inappropriately can cause any number of diseases. But no, apoptosis does not "cause" mental illness.

Would I be right in saying that the brain cells do not renew over time as they die (my understanding is this happens around 20). Does this mean brain capacity lessens and you could eventually get alzheimers?

As humans (around 20) start to lose the neurons in the brain which degrades
the brain power which then bring on alzheimer's.
Dosn't that make sense
I won't know
Just a guess
