Question

Help answer this question below.

My laptop's DVD drive isn't working (maybe). When I put in a DVD, it's not detected, but the properties tab says "this device is working properly". I tried troubleshooter, it was no help. Upon restoration, the drive works, for a few days. Help, anyone?

Right click on your "my computer" icon and go to properties. Hit the hardware tab. From there click device manager. Open the plus sign next to DVD/CDROM drives. Right click on your device and select "unistall". Restart your computer and it will be detected again. Hit up the manufacturer's website and look for a "firmware" update. That might make you happy. If not, I would start shopping for a new drive.
