Can I deduct court orderd alimony payments prior to the final divorce decree from my taxes?

    Generally, if the alimony is court ordered, yes. States are different in how they tax income. Talk to a tax professional if you have any question.

    In general, yes -- spousal support, both temporary and permanent, are deductible to the payor and taxable to the receiver. Check with your tax advisor, of course.

    YES as soon as they are court ordered and you follow the other rules, for instance: they must be in cash (making the mortgage or car payment does NOT count) and you can not be filing a married filing joint tax return with her.
