By going and having a great time and letting them know how much fun you're having and how very thoughtful you think it is of them to throw you a party. A handwritten note later would be a nice touch too!!
Isn't it rude for someone to "tell" me to sing for them (I'm a singer) at my own dinner party? Isn't preparing a meal for them enough?

thanks. i am just so honored and humbled. the family is soooo nice. i was speechless when he told me "not to make any plans for sunday because there is a party in my honor- he told me his aunts were discussing what food to make and bring over before he realized he was giving me too much info lol. i cannot even express the gratitude i already have for them being so kind and warm to me. i want ot thank them in the nicest way (besides just showing up) but yes, you are right. thanks!
