Not all of us my friend. I wouldn't be a man if you paid me a zillion dollars. The road they have to hoe is way too tough. They can't win. They have to be simultaneously tough/sensitive..macho/caring...independent/supportive...and they have be able to read women's minds. Yep. I kid you not. All a woman has to do is be who she is and that seems to be acceptable. A guy? Nope. He has gotta be a regular guy/superhuman..able to defend his family/not aggressive or dangerous...be successful but put his family first. How in the he** can you win with so many conflicting demands? I'll pass. :)
I disagree. In my opinion, our character and personality is shaped by our experiences and decisions. Gender creates a distinct set of experience, if not by culture, than at least by nature. We cannot view ourselves apart from the experience of life.
Other defining circumstances are age, nationality, when in history you live, ethnicity, education, language, religion, medical conditions, our friends, family and lovers, etc.
If you remove all of these things, you do not have a "transhuman," ...
you have a zombie.

I'm a Me.
That me happens to be female, but that's just one of many incidental characteristics.
I'm not trapped in this body, I'm fine in here, although people of my body type may be trapped in/by societal expectation, depending on where they are.
I imagine Ms Boosler was suggesting that one's IQ is not measured by one's testicles.
very interesting thought
its all in expectations, expect nothing and get the full scope of those you perceive. if you have expectations and their not met, your left with a disapointment of sorts (disapointed you were wrong or just that they didnt give you what you wanted). the trick is to be open to whatever they are, and not whatever they are trying to have you beleive that they are. if we train ourselves to expect nothing and to deliver nothing we will know the difference between what is projected and what is real. besides physisists are finding that our bodies are seperate from our minds, our minds exist in time space, and our bodies in space time...your body is a projection of your mind and not your identity at all.
So very true. What else can I say Deep Thinker. +4
I think the biggest differences between men and women is that Y chromosome that causes some of us to develop an outty instead of an inny! LOL!
Deep.
I am a body that is inhabited by a soul.... A soul that pays No rent, does nothing as far as upkeep and plays loud music all the time... stupid souls...

You're reading "I'm just a person trapped inside a woman's body" -- Elayne Boosler. Aren't we all really transhumans trapped inside a gendered body?

its all a flag, if we stop waving it or avoiding those who dont, itll pass, and then men can be as sensitive to others as women are and put our strengths to better purpose. the expectance is what were trying to satisfy and the more we try the more it grows, if we leave that dog to starve it will.

The only way I know this is because I have a son. If I didn't I'd still think that women have the tougher road. I have observed through the years up close and personal everything the world and people expect of men. Happy Tuesday to you all! :)
