Throw the machines out.
I don't buy them so we don't have them to play. Also, I structure their day and play with them.... tag, freeze dance, candy land, honey bee tree, memory, kick ball, sand castles, time at the park, ride bikes, community events, painting, coloring, sidewalk chalk, walk around the neighborhood, dry erase pens on the big bay windows (rainy day), word hunt, help mommy sort laundry, help mommy put laundry away......
I guess it really depends on the age of the kid, how much control you have over what they can and can't have (example, if they have it at the ex's house or grandparent's house) and how much effort you want to put into backing up what you want for them.
My boss's 8 year old son gets 1/2 hour of computer play -or- TV for every 25 pages he reads. His son has read the most books in his class for the last 3 years.
Don't buy them any.
What's wrong with computer games?
Especially the Nintendo Wii, you burn off shedloads of energy playing one of those badboys.
Hi,
Since you cared about kids and want them to indulge in physical activities, it is better to go for a gym for kids which helps their physical structure and keep 'em healthy..Also you will find accessories like swing sets etc..
