I might consider it, if I won the lottery, for example.
If I won one of those gigantic lotteries, where the prize was hundreds of millions of dollars, I would REFUSE to file for my social security checks when I reached 65. I'd leave that money alone, so others would have it available to them, when they turned 65 and filed.
That's what I have been told that multimillionaires do, and I think it's a good thing that that they leave those retirement funds alone, for the folks who really do need them.

I would probably semi-retire. I would do a lot of travelling, then once back home I'd probably get a part-time job doing something that peeks my interest, just to keep me busy. +++
In a heart-beat!
I would consider changing my activities some - but I will always want to be productive.
If I was independently rich I would change careers.
I would either write a history book and/or do some traveling.

only if i got to be like Hue Heffner
No, but I would get into something I liked. A vineyard near St Helena. They grow good olives there too, you know.
There would be no considering it............I'M DONE!!! LOL +5
I would love to retire as soon as I have enough of a pension built up to live on comfortably for the rest of my life. I wouldn't have to make it big, but I'll probably have to
work until I'm 65. I'm working on a book right now. If for some reason the book brings in a ton of money, then yes, I'm outta here!
always say i would but deep down i wouldn't, Regardless how much, though my lifestyle would change a little bit for the better.
I retired in 1993 at age 55 as planned. I have never regretted it for one minute. :-)

+2. If I made it big (it would have to be really big) then I would do what I could to allow everyone to retire early. It sounds farfetched but it's really more of a matter of allocating resources and technology to take over while eliminating the monetary system and poof, now we only work if we want to (eventually, there would definitely have to be some sort of transition period) and it would be to improve society. But that's just me.
that would probably be mandatory lol
if i could do good, then yes. i'm sure i could find something worthwhile ... i hadn't thought about what mensan referred to about NOT taking social security checks. if i saw the government throwing away trillions of dollars on big businesses and political contributors and the country was about to go bankrupt, i'd probably take that money and give it to the homeless ... actually, that's probably what the majority of any proceeds from making it big would go to.
