How many more years is the post office expected to continue to carry letters for?

    They can do it indefinitely as long as they can a) get paid out of the Federal coffers, b) increase stamp prices pretty much at will, c) work with business to expedite junk/bulk mail, and d) prevent meaningful competition through force of law.

    why are you asking post office questions?
    & you don't need the "for" at the end of sentence. it's two grammatical mistakes in one.
