You're reading If exercise is good for your mind, body and soul, why is it that I exercise daily and have always done, yet each time my 'BODY' hurts like hell, my 'MIND' remembers the pain and my 'SOUL' is destroyed?

england bless ya - but you can give me online hints :-) i run every single day and used to do street dance 3 x a week so in theory should be used to it. I eat healthily and am slim and toned so its not a weight issue.

Do you "float" level and step softly when you run, gently touching the ground with almost no sound ... or do you stomp with a "thunder-hoof" ... or do you bounce with a jump/fall???
.
How you run is far more important than most people realize. You could be destroying yourself if you are doing it wrong.
.
Also, most people do not have proper breath control. They get a slap on the butt at birth and that is the end of their life's breathing lessons. There are many different ways to breathe, each will temporarily induce a slightly different physiological change, making your exercises either better or worse, depending.
.
... and then there is meditation ...

i reckon its the run and the breathing - god you are right - yr brilliant - i tend to put more weight on the left side of my body now I think about it and yeah my breathing isnt controlled - god thank god i run early when no one can see or hear me :-)

Next time, make a conscious effort to run so quietly that you yourself can not hear your own foot steps ... and try to keep your entire upper body at the same level while you bend and extend your legs (no bouncing)!!!

i think the street dance has made me guilty of bouncing lol but I will try - maybe i will leave the ipod at home so i cant bounce to the rhythm - thanq so very much for your help - you re really kind :-)

Breathe via the nose ONLY ... with short tiny fast sips of air inhaled/exhaled in time to your matched heartbeat & stepping. Make your breathing as deep and full/empty as possible with each and every breath. Keep your teeth firmly clenched with a medium amount of biting jaw pressure. Keep your tongue pressed upward against the roof of the mouth as if you were trying to stab through to your brain, and every 5 to 10 breaths move the tongue from very close to the upper teeth, to the middle of the roof of the mouth, to flip/folding your tongue back to press the soft spot behind the palette (the three energy control switches).

I can't breathe through my nose though - i've always just breathed through my mouth - i guess i'll just have to work on my step - thanq :-)

Is there a medical problem that makes nose breathing impossible, or is it just uncomfortable & undesirable?
by Takei-Shihan on November 10th, 2009
i ve never been able to - i have no idea why but today i tried so hard to keep my mouth shut whilst running like you suggested but nearly passed out. I ve actually done my ankle in as ran over uneven ground last week, so running is not good and killed me today, so it wasnt easy to try and run lightly as you suggested - the things we do for fitness :-)
