Have your heard of DEvELOPMENTAL OPTMETRIST'S AND VISION THERAPY? My 6 year old has show major weakness in her visual processing and they are recommending therapy. I have never heard of it before and what can I do at home to help her? Thanks

    Yes, our youngest girl had vision therapy when she was about that age... she had a variety of problems (among the most amusing: she would seemingly not "see" walls sometimes and walk right into them!)

    It seems to help kids whose eyes work just fine physiologically, but whose brains are "behind the curve" developmentally in processing visual input. I don't know why this happens.

    She's now a healthy, intelligent 19-year-old in college, and seems to have no particular visual processing problems.

    If you start her on vision therapy, the therapist will probably give you exercises to do at home with her.
