They do make an umbrella that has vents to let air escape. It is on that well known shopping channel qvc.
The theory is that letting air escape prevents the inverting.+5

that looks kinda fun dontcha think? LOL. There is a movie on tv tonight (SciFi channel) that was filmed in Davenport. You can also see the trailer on youtube. Movie called Megafault. You should watch it and see if you recongize any places. Palmer is in it.

Cute pic, but you are right,..you feel kind of foolish when you are under an umbrella in a rain, anyway. When it is a real windy gusher and the damn thing inverts...that is really the pits. Somebody should DO something!

You're reading I know this linked photo is fake, of course, but what I am wondering is, do you think the day will come when someone will create an umbrella that does NOT invert in high winds? NOTHING is more embarrassing, than when THAT happens!
