I also think that the IRA is more for negotiations as for a military action.
The time of military actions by the forces of the IRA seems to be over at the moment.
The political goals of the IRA and muslim terror groups are too different so that I hardly could imagine that there is a real cooperation.
This could only be if both groups would have a common enemy.

Okay, Frederik, just one more Question - If Hezbollah or Al-Quadia said to the IRA "We will assist you 100% and supply you 100%" would the IRA scrap the peace process? Just a though

I do not know the conditions and the problems of Northern Ireland good enough. I just could find out that the IRA and some Irish people seem to dislike the British and that loyalists to Britain dislike the Irish.
Hard to say what the different groups in Northern Ireland want to achieve especially from my foreign point of view.
At the moment it seems to be quiet and they seem to go a way of reconciliation.
Finally it regard it as a complete local British affair which they have to deal.

Its true that some Irish Americans funded the IRA,and it was called Noraid. The big fund raising events used to take place on the top floor of one of the twin towers in Manhattan.

Colonel Gadhaffi of Libya trained IRA members to become explosive experts on how to make bombs. They supplied them with guns ammunition and semtex explosives which they paid for with the donations from America.

The IRA also trained in Beirut in the Lebanon with Hezbollah terrorists. When you donate money to terrorist organisations no matter how good you think that cause may be, you end up with blood on your hands, like the thousands of Irish civilians including men, women, children and babies who were blown up by their bombs. Those who made donations at the fund raising functions should take note and think twice before throwing money into a bucket ever again.

Before you start saying the IRA didn’t train with other terrorist organisations you must first get the facts before you say otherwise.

That they trained in Lebanon I for example did not know.
Here in Germany we only heard very little about Northern Ireland and most people here know very few about it.
But very well known and widely published is the "Bloody Sunday" and most people first think of that "bloody Sunday" which was often documented by the German TV and therefore is well known.

Bloody Sunday was bad and the Parachute Regigiment lost the plot that day.The recent troubles in Northern Ireland was a terrible thing to watch, and all it acheived was a terrible loss of civilian life. The sad thing is it will start all over again and the youths over there are already starting to cause disturbances.

Why should they change? You know how long bias and hostilities can last.
Usually they will never end as long as there is first an action and then a reaction.
So, if it does not even work in Northern Ireland where people have the same language and culture, how should it work in Europe with different languages and different cultural backgrounds? So Northern Ireland is for me the very best example that Europe among certain countries never will work.
So, I am rather glad and content that my country and the French found a way to overcome the worst bias and I was often and long enough in the German-French brigade to see that it can work very fine if people on both sides have the will that it works.
So young people find out by their own experience that both cultures have their advantages.

There is a breakaway group called the Real IRA, but they are a very small collection of fanatics. The IRA is now incorporated into mainstream politics. As for reports of Al Q'aida infiltration, I would take those with a pinch of salt. However, I am the first one to admit I could be wrong.
As far as kicking the Brits out of Northern Ireland - we initially went there as a peacekeeping force, and ended up seeming to violently promote the status quo - something that tends to happen when you send the troops in. It was a relief to everybody, including the troops, when a political solution was reached.

If I'm truthful with you - my Worry is that I'll wake up one morning, flick on the news and see that a Joint Al-Queda/IRA bombing spree has started to take place accross Northern Ireland and the rest of the U.K - Worse still what if Such a joint Bombing spree took place in the U.K and extended to Israel - Via Hamas and Hezbollah - That's why I , as a wee Northern Irelander , think the Peace process is dead :(
Avatar Prunesquallor Oct, 10 2009 at 07:45 AM
Well, in this case I really hope your worry is unfounded, and that the influence of the 'real IRA' remains minimal.

Maybe you are referring to this:

"A man claiming to be a former member of the Real IRA says the group has established links with Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah that could lead to a new wave of terrorist attacks in Northern Ireland and mainland Britain using suicide bombers.

The man, who spoke to the Belfast News Letter on condition of anonymity for safety reasons, said that he would be able to give up 25 members of the dissident Republican Group if he were to receive a new identity from authorities.

The man left the RIRA because he did not want to see “suicide bombers in shopping centers.” He said that the representatives of both organizations had met in the South, and that Hezbollah was the conduit between the RIRA and Islamic terrorists."

Sissco:He does not know how world terrorism operates and how they are all interlinked. The IRA and the New IRA all sent people to train with other terrorist organisations and thats a well documented fact.

I have been to Northern Ireland about 12 years ago as well as to the Republic of Ireland when some tensions still were going on.
A quite interesting situation which was sometimes even thrilling but the people there had to do with the arab terrorists as much as the Eskimos ever had to do with them.
The Irish are very religious and never would cooperate with arab terrorists.

You whole question seems to be centered around your unproven premise that " the IRA are more or less alies with those responsible for 9/11". If one was to question that I'm not sure what there is to reply to.

The IRA is a very honourable political group as well as the UDA.
Both groups give a very strong contribution to their big country.
I just was listening to a few speeches of Ian Paisley who was defending the opinion of the British people and the British government and who seems to be their representative in Northern Ireland.
I could learn a lot about the British way of thinking by listening to Mr.Ian Paisley and the British pov.

But both groups are part of a government I think and never had to do anything with arab terrorists and they never had anything common with them.

Both groups had their very respectful reasons fotr their point of view.
