In terms of classical structures? The Borobudur Temple in Java. This is the largest Buddhist stupa in the world, and predates Angkor Wat by hundreds of years. It is built around a natural hill, square terraces at the bottom, round at the top, with an enormous empty stupa at the summit. Its miles and miles of carvings tell the story of Buddhism in art, from the world at the bottom to Nirvana at the top. It is phenomenal, dates from the 8th C AD.
