I don't think they should have rights "just" like people, but they should have rights. For example, no one should be allowed to torture an animal.

Well, I don't think that an animal needs the right to vote or get married. However, I am sick and tired of people running around randomly shooting animals such as mountain lions, ducks, tigers, etc. for evil pleasure. An animal has the right to live and people that torture animals don't get NEARLY as much punishment as they should. I also detest abusive environments that are apparently legal in this country such as puppy mills. Yes, there is a lot of trash that animals have been putting up with from humans for the last 40,000 years and I think it needs to STOP now.

We are the preditor...we eat animals when we crave them. They are my prey.
But I do not see a point in being cruel to animals...
But I do believe you kill an animal to eat it or use its products (skin, bones, meat)...and not for fun...or cruelness.

Animals need certain rights and to be treated with dignity and respect. Even those we eat and use for other products.
Our humanity is partially "judged" on our being humane not just to other humans but to the other life forms we share or planet with.

I think it should depend on the animal. Not the same rights, no. But I think that creatures like whales and dolphins should be recognized as possibly sentient and no longer hunted by ANYONE. I also think that killing any animal for anything but food is wrong.

But to say the same rights? no. And certainly not most animals. I'm sorry, but frogs and chickens are two of the most brainless things on this planet. Do you seriously expect me to equate them with say, a 1 or 2 year old human? Not a chance.

I believe that humans are higher beings so that they deserve higher rights. This does not mean that animals should not be respected, they do have some rights to be treated kindly, and you should respect them for what they are.

They should have the right to be treated humanely.
After that it depends on their level of cognitive ability. A chimp or a dolphin should have more 'rights' than a rat, for instance.

I think they should be treated a LOT better people seem to forget that they have feelings. I think there so smart I sometimes think there smarter then us. Like cats and dogs start to walk ect. within 8 week it takes us about a year to walk.
I Love animals and I cANT STAND how some people are with them.
