Do you think openly gay people should be allowed to serve as scout leaders? Why or why not?

Of course. And what's more the Boy Scouts of America is a totally corrupt organization. They are NOT allowed to accept federal funding because they are a discriminatory group. To accept federal dollars you CAN NOT discriminate against race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, etc. The boy scouts do not accept scouts or scout leaders who are homosexual. I don't want MY TAX DOLLARS paying for discrimination! Something needs to be done and this issue really makes my blood boil. It is blatantly illegal and corrupt but yet nobody does anything.

Yes. Openly gay doesn't mean they're child molesters. It would be no different than a woman leader for boy scouts.

Sure. The job has attracted pedophiles since scouting began. An openly gay person would be refreshing.

I have no problem with a gay person being a scout leader, teacher, etc. because the gay people that I have known don't try to make others gay. I don't think just being gay means that they'll harm your children or warp their thinking. +6

Certainly. There's nothing about gay people that makes one unable to teach basic survival skills, or tying knots, or organising activities, or leading a camp, or teaching morality.

Yes as long that there doing there job well. Thats the only thing that matters.

Yes, because, contrary to popular (a.k.a. ignorant) belief, child molesters are rarely "openly gay" men.

The ignorant masses, however, would never allow for their children to be instructed by "one of those gays," so there's really no point, anyway. Perhaps one day discrimination will be much less common. I suppose fighting for things like this will move us along, but I don't have the strength to fight such a battle. I'll stick with the small things for now, and lend my support to the more courageous.

As opposed to the quiet types whom you never see coming? Gay men are rarely pedophiles. That seat is reserved for straight, evil men. I think gays should be able to serve as scout leaders, serve food and beverages, and serve in the military, if that's what they feel called to do. I tend to reward honesty with trust. +5

Of course. Being gay is not a factor in what type of youth leader a person would be.
