Call SONY! MAy be a bad fan. Before it burns up.
Could be a bad fan, it could be a heat sink full of crap, or it could be that you are smothering it by blocking the air vents. When I use mine in my lap, I have to shift it a little to the left so that I don't block the vents, yet many people have no qualms against setting their laptops on a soft surface (lap, couch, bed...).
There is also a slim chance that your battery is defective. Double-check to make sure that there are no recalls on your battery.
LAPTOP SHOPS HAVE SUPPORTS WITH FANS TELL THEM, I BOUGHT ONE RECENTLY THEY TAKE THE EFFORT OFF THE TINY LAPTOP FAN.THEYRE CHEAP OR GET AN OLD FAN AS I ONCE DID CUT A HOLE IN A TABLE ETC.
Get a cooling pad or a cooling fan. Vaio laptops look good but are crap and you'll usually find it'll start to go in a few months time as the heat buildup starts killing componenets.
If you have a warrenty I suggest you use it otherwise you could find it's not worth the mone getting better fans.
Could be all of the above. They do make laptop cooling pad that helps keep them from over heating.
Just google that and see what I mean.
