Question

Help answer this question below.

Why does the word s-e-x or s-e-x-u-a-l in your question keep it off of the front page? I cannot say, "How do I tell the s-e-x of my gerbil?" or "How do I know if a relationship is purely s-e-x-u-a-l." Why has this been put into the list of "taboo" words?

I didn't know it (SEX) did...I go into the second page and the unanswered questions anyway and answer what I can, even answers about SEX...no idea why SEX should not appear on the front page...perhaps someone has a problem with the word SEX

I don't know! It's stupid, sex is a bodily function like any other.

Well, you can probably imagine some of the questions that would show up on the homepage without some filters. We were getting frequent complaints from our community, so we now sanitize the homepage to some extent. Those questions still show up everywhere else, including New Arrivals!

Due to the 13 years olds on here.
There is an adult section for adult questions.
In addition to that, you could ask - how do I tell the gender of my gerbil, or how do I tell if a relationship is purely physical - and that would be fine, and not kept off the first page.
Think more laterally and there will be no problem

I guess because we have thirteen year olds on the site who shouldn't be exposed to all the dirty little s-e-x questions.

    1) I don't know how it was at the time where you posted this question, but at the moment, this kind of question could eventually be kept from the front page through re-categorization. If they were re-categorized in an AB4Adults category, they would not appear any more on the front page, but only on AB4Adults.

I don't think that the gerbil question would have that fate, it would probably stay by "gerbil" or something.

    2) It is sometimes difficult to draw the line between the AB4Adults categories and the general AB domain.
Maybe teenagers between 14 and 18 should be somewhat more aware about sexual issues as to be able to be confronted with explicit sexuality. However, they are often still considered "children". For instance, if you sleep with a 17 year old in the US, you are guilty of child abuse and considered a pedophile and a rapist. This was actually not the original definition:

    3) "The term pedophilia (or paedophilia) has a range of definitions as found in psychiatry, psychology, law enforcement, and the vernacular. As a medical diagnosis, it is defined as a psychological disorder in which an adult experiences a sexual preference for prepubescent children."

"In law enforcement, the term "pedophile" is generally used to describe those accused or convicted of the sexual abuse of a minor (including both prepubescent children and adolescent minors below the local line of statutory rape, usually under 14 years of age)."

    4) "Each US state has its own age of consent. Currently state laws set the age of consent at 16, 17 or 18. The most common age is 16.
age of consent 16: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, Washington, West Virginia
age of consent 17: Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Texas
age of consent 18: Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, North Dakota, Oregon, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming."

Because Americans (in general)are far more afraid of expressions of love and passion than they are of violence. Hence no breasts on TV but bloody murders aplenty.
