I took early retirement from the company for which I worked right out of high school for 30 years. I went to college and graduate school while working. It is great not having to be "at the office" keeping regular business hours. I do some work from home, but not very much. I'm starting to miss the higher income and am thinking about being more aggressive working from home or going back to work part time. Haven't yet decided.
I wouldn't say so since a lot of retired people actually have to struggle to pay bills and decide between medicine and food or rent and food. I am sure there is a lot of stress related to retirement along with boredom. A lot of people retire and then go back to work because of all of it so I say that you are not really free in most cases.
