They aren't and that's why insurance rates are higher for teens than for people over 21.

Says WHO? Statistics bear out that teens have more accidents than adults...
but they MAY be better as often they will have quicker reflexes than some adults.

Because your definition of better driver includes how fast you can weave through traffic and how many donuts you can do in a Wendy's parking lot!

Well, for one... they often aren't.

However, reasons why some are would be that they haven't developed the bad habits adults have and don't believe they are amazing drivers and therefore they pay more attention.

They think they are, I did.

They are more agressive and might have better reaction times and reflexes however very poor judgement and immaturity is a tremendous burden as they tend to make very bad and often dangerous decisions in the pursuit of expedience.

Off road often proves different as experienced race drivers tend to kick the ass of the snot-nosed kids. The very young go faster to the accident and the mature are still there for the checkered flag.

That's absurd. You need experience to get better and experience is one thing teens don't have.

Says who? I think statistics prove quite the opposite. Teens and seniors are the most dangerous driver's on the road. In fact a young girl I work with just got into an accident the other day. She fell asleep at the wheel and ran into a semi-truck. She's okay...thank God.

We teens are better drivers than adults, if by adults you mean people who are 75+ years old. If you mean adults as in people who are 21-60, we're not.

Statistically, they are not. There are many teens who are good drivers, but teenage drivers as a group are inexperienced and many take unnecessary risks.

    Faster isn't better.

In general response times are faster in younger people, which would signify what you're saying is true, but we counteract this by going too bloody fast for ourselves. Also the older you get the more you realise you don't ACTUALLY need to race around everywhere. Chill out a bit you know?

Some teens have good reflexes but experience is what makes people better at most everything. Including driving and most jobs.

This question is asked without any benefit of supporting evidence. It is also highly likely to be false, as teens often do not have the benefit of good judgement to be a good driver. The pertinent line is "Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement."

So perhaps I'll choose to rephrase the question. Why do at least some teens think they are better drivers than adults?

In fact, apparently the average person believes they themselves are better than average at any specific task. This has been shown to be true by studies. So it makes sense that teens will think they are good drivers, when in fact, they are just teenagers.

because the rules are fresh in some of the teen's mind.
most of the older adults think they know and they dont pay any attention to the rules.
