Help answer this question below.
i'd get commissioned, go to annapolis naval academy for four years free and paid, then transfer as marine officer. try to get a graduate degree or two, retire after 20 (that is, 38 years old) and start a second career while collecting retirement.
Do both. Join the Marines under an ROTC style program, go straight to college, graduate, and get your commission as an O-1.
Starting pay in 2009 is $2,655.30 - nearly $3,000 per month by the time you graduate in 2013/14 - and on top of your salary you'll be getting a basic allowance for housing so that most of your living expenses won't be coming out of pocket.
You won't owe a red cent for your schooling, and you'll already be working toward a solid career. Once you make 0-4 you can pretty much guarantee that you're set for life.
Are those my only two choices?
